US Strikes Iran, Here's the US Dollar Exchange Rate at Money Changers

The rupiah came under renewed pressure in Wednesday morning trading (8/7/2026), with the US dollar once again breaching the psychological level of Rp18,000/US$.

According to data from staff at the money changer as of 13:30 WIB, the rupiah exchange rate against the US dollar reached Rp18,030/US, withthesellingpriceatRp17, 985/US.

Previously, in Tuesday’s trading (7/7/2026), the rupiah had closed 0.08% higher at Rp17,970/US$.

The rupiah’s movement today is expected to remain influenced by a number of sentiments, particularly from external factors.

From abroad, market attention has again turned to rising tensions in the Middle East. Escalation occurred after the United States launched a retaliatory attack on Iran, following reports of strikes on several tankers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest attack has renewed market concerns over potential disruption to global energy supplies. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important oil and gas shipping routes, so any disruption in the region can immediately trigger fears over energy distribution.
