US Strikes Hit Airport, Bridges, and Railway Station in Iran
The United States launched further deadly strikes against Iran overnight, hitting an airport, a railway station in the port city of Bandar Abbas, and two bridges in southern Iran near the Strait of Hormuz. State television reported on Telegram that three explosions were heard near the airport and that at least one projectile struck Iranshahr airport in the southeast. The Mehr news agency stated on Telegram that Bandar Abbas railway junction station was targeted, with reports indicating two Iranians were injured in the attack. An official report cited by IRNA confirmed airstrikes on two bridges in Hormozgan province, resulting in two deaths and four injuries. US Central Command (CENTCOM) had earlier announced that its forces were conducting a new wave of strikes against Iran, the fifth consecutive night of operations, aimed at further degrading Iran’s military capabilities. Tensions between the US and Iran have recently escalated over the Strait of Hormuz, with both sides engaging in attacks despite a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding intended to end the conflict and reach a lasting peace agreement. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that the recent US strikes were prompted by Iran violating the agreed memorandum, specifically by firing on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
