The United States Senate has rejected a resolution previously passed by the House of Representatives that would have ordered President Donald Trump to end the conflict with Iran, according to Senate data reviewed on Thursday (24/9).

The data shows that 49 senators voted in favour of the resolution, while 50 senators voted against it.

The US House of Representatives had previously passed the resolution, which was then considered by the Senate on 23 July.

On 16 September, CBS News reported that the House had passed a third resolution instructing Trump to end the conflict with Iran, with 220 members of Congress voting in favour and 204 against.

On 28 February, the United States and Israel began launching attacks against several targets in Iran, which were subsequently met with retaliatory strikes by Iran against opposing targets.

In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities, but attacks were resumed shortly thereafter.

To date, the conflict remains unresolved.
