The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has stated there are opportunities for collaboration in the nuclear energy and financial services sectors with Indonesian businesses. “Our meetings with the private sector in Indonesia revealed various exciting opportunities in nuclear energy and financial services,” said DFC Chief Policy Officer Caroline Vik during an online press conference monitored from Jakarta on Wednesday. From the government side, she noted prospects for cooperation in transportation, infrastructure, new port development, and the mining and processing of critical minerals. “We also discussed the government’s key focus on enhancing energy security through upstream exploration and midstream energy storage and transportation infrastructure,” she added. The DFC is a development finance institution of the United States government, serving as a primary pillar of its economic diplomacy. The institution manages and channels private capital to support U.S. foreign policy and strategic economic development. Following a recent expansion of its mandate by the U.S. Congress, DFC has increased its investment capacity from 60 billion US dollars to 205 billion US dollars. Caroline Vik previously conducted a series of visits to Manila, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Vientiane, Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta from 19 to 25 June. During the trip, she met with senior government officials and business leaders to strengthen strategic economic partnerships, promote regional economic security, and explore investment opportunities in priority sectors including energy, technology, critical minerals, supply chain security, pharmaceuticals, and strategic and digital infrastructure.
