US Secretary of State: UN Cannot Resolve the War in Gaza
Jakarta - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio considers the United Nations’ (UN) role in resolving current conflicts to be nonexistent. Rubio said the UN cannot even resolve the war in Gaza, Palestine.
As reported by AFP on Saturday (14/2/2026), Rubio made the statement at the Munich Security Conference. He addressed the UN’s role in handling global conflicts.
“The United Nations still has extraordinary potential to be a tool for good in the world,” he said.
However, according to Rubio, the UN has played virtually no role in resolving conflicts, and he called for reform of global institutions.
“But we cannot ignore that, right now, on the most pressing issues before us, the UN has no answers and has played almost no role,” he said.
Specifically, he derided the UN’s inability to handle the war in Gaza.
“The UN cannot resolve the war in Gaza,” he said.
