US Secretary of State: There has been some progress in negotiations with Iran
The United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said on Friday that there is some progress regarding the situation in Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. According to Rubio, the progress signals are quite good.
“There has been some progress. I don’t want to overstate it, but there has been a little movement and that is a good thing,” Rubio told reporters ahead of a meeting of NATO foreign ministers with the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Rubio said the central principle of the U.S. remains unchanged, namely that Iran must not possess a nuclear weapon.
He noted that Washington is still awaiting the outcome of ongoing discussions concerning Iran, while emphasising that the issue of uranium enrichment and Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium must be resolved.
