US Secretary of State Says Greenland Negotiations Progressing Positively

Moscow (ANTARA) - United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday (15/2) that negotiations regarding the potential US takeover of Greenland are progressing positively.

“We met with them (representatives of Greenland, Denmark),” Rubio said at a press conference following his talks with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava.

“We are following the process well, we are engaged in discussions with them, and I feel very positive and optimistic that we are on a good negotiating track,” he added.

Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly stated that the island should become part of the United States.

The governments of Denmark and Greenland have warned Washington against seizing the island, stating that they expect respect for their territorial integrity.
