US Secret Service Agent Investigated for Leaking VP Vance's Travel Details
A Secret Service agent assigned to the security detail of US Vice President JD Vance has been suspended and is facing an internal investigation after being suspected of leaking classified information to the media regarding the Vice President’s private travel plans. The internal investigation is being led by the Secret Service’s internal affairs division, though it remains unclear whether the case will result in administrative sanctions or criminal charges. Sources indicated that authorities have identified the individual believed to be behind the security breach. The agent is suspected of being the source for a recent MS NOW report, which detailed complaints from security personnel about heavy workloads stemming from Vance’s personal travel schedule. The report also disclosed specific travel plans, including a proposed flight with his son aboard a Marine Corps helicopter to attend a golf event, a plan that was subsequently cancelled. The publication of operational security details in the MS NOW report sparked significant anger among senior officials at the Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the White House. Neither the Secret Service nor a spokesperson for MS NOW have issued an official response when asked for comment. The escalation of this leak investigation aligns with the Trump administration’s strict commitment to cracking down on unauthorised disclosures to the media. Earlier this month, four journalists from The New York Times received subpoenas to testify before a federal grand jury regarding an investigation into a report about security features of a new presidential aircraft gifted by Qatar to Donald Trump.
