US Revokes Over 175,000 Visas Since January 2025

The US Department of State announced on Monday that it has revoked more than 175,000 visas since January 2025, when President Donald Trump began his second term. The majority of these visas were revoked due to criminal violations, with the department citing assault, reckless driving, driving under the influence, theft, drug offences, sexual violence, child abuse, fraud, and embezzlement as the primary causes. “A US visa is a privilege, not a right,” the department stated, adding that it remains committed to using every available tool to protect the public from those who abuse the system. Since Trump’s return to the White House, the administration has tightened immigration policies, cracked down on illegal immigrants, and increased scrutiny of US visa holders.
