US Revokes Brazilian Ambassador's Visa Amid Diplomatic Dispute

Washington - The United States has revoked the visa of the Brazilian Ambassador to Washington after the Brazilian government had not yet granted diplomatic approval (agrément) for the US Ambassador nominee to Brazil put forward by President Donald Trump’s administration. Additionally, Brazil also refused to grant visas to a number of American diplomats, according to a senior US State Department official, as reported by Reuters on Tuesday. The official stated that the visa would be restored once the diplomatic issue is resolved. In late July, Brazil denied visa applications for two State Department officials scheduled to visit the country ahead of Brazil’s presidential election on 4 October. On 1 June, President Trump nominated Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez as the US Ambassador to Brazil.
