US Reportedly Begins Conserving Interceptor Missiles Amid Iran Conflict

The United States military has begun allowing some Iranian missiles and drones to pass without interception as its stock of air defence ammunition runs low, according to a report by NBC News citing sources. Military commanders are now reportedly conserving interceptor missiles, engaging only those targets deemed a direct threat to the safety of US military personnel. Targets heading towards areas without US personnel are being allowed to pass, even if they risk damaging base infrastructure.

US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz dismissed the report regarding the depletion of US military ammunition supplies. In an interview with NBC News on Sunday, Waltz urged the public not to believe the leaked information and stated that those responsible for the leak should be jailed.

Earlier, CBS reported on Friday that the administration of President Donald Trump was concerned about the increasing rate of US weapons usage. The report indicated that Trump had delayed plans to significantly escalate military operations against Iran due to fears that a wider conflict would further drain stockpiles of Patriot interceptor missiles and other air defence munitions already stretched thin across the Middle East.
