US Ready to Utilise ChatGPT Mil AI Model for Military Operations

Washington (ANTARA) - The United States Department of War (DOW) announced on Monday the launch of the ChatGPT Mil artificial intelligence (AI) model for secure use within military environments.

“The Department of War today launched ChatGPT Mil from OpenAI, marking the latest generative AI capabilities available on GenAI.mil, the Department’s primary generative AI platform,” the DOW stated in a press release.

The DOW noted that this launch represents an adoption phase of the partnership between the Department of War and OpenAI, which was established in 2025.

ChatGPT Mil has obtained authorisation to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) at Impact Level 5 (IL5). The Department emphasised that the model is designed for safe and consistent use.

“This implementation accelerates routine tasks and frees up time for more critical projects across the Joint Forces,” said the DOW.

The Department stated that the integration of ChatGPT Mil into GenAI.mil, alongside other advanced AI capabilities, forms a multi-model AI ecosystem to support military personnel.

In a separate press release, the DOW also announced the inaugural launch of Grok from Starshield AI.

The DOW stated that Grok for Government from Starshield AI has obtained the same CUI and IL5 authorisation as ChatGPT Mil.

“Starshield AI’s Grok for Government enables the Joint Forces to execute missions with greater speed and precision across various operational contexts,” the DOW said.

According to the department, its use includes market research analysis for procurement personnel and supply chain management for logistics officers.

The Pentagon plans to continue expanding the use of latest-generation AI as a “force multiplier” across the United States Joint Forces.
