US President Donald Trump Announces Total Economic War Against Iran
United States President Donald Trump has officially announced the launch of a massive economic operation aimed at completely isolating Iran from the global system. The move has been described as the most devastating economic operation ever carried out against any country in the history of US foreign policy.
Through the Truth Social platform on Wednesday (19/8), Trump stressed that this campaign was a response to the failure of the Islamic Republic of Iran to take advantage of the opportunities of a previously offered agreement. He called the move an ‘economic war’ on an unprecedented scale.
Trump stated that Washington would sever all financial and trade routes that support Tehran’s economy. The main focus of this operation includes the total cessation of various illegal and strategic activities that have so far supported Iran’s economic resilience.
In his statement, Trump issued a stern warning to any country still cooperating with or providing assistance to Iran. He stressed that government or private entities that allow their facilities to be used by Iran would face enormous economic consequences from the United States.
‘We need all of our allies to stand together with the United States to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat,’ said Trump, labelling the campaign an ‘economic D-Day’.
In addition to economic pressure, Trump claimed that Iran’s military strength is already in a paralysed condition. He said the Iranian navy no longer exists, the air force has been destroyed, and their military manufacturing facilities have been reduced to rubble.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed that Washington would not be able to force Tehran to make concessions despite continued pressure.
