US Prepares to Withdraw Troops from Iran, Signal of Easing War?
The United States’ plan to withdraw troops from Iran serves as a signal of the easing conflict that has long triggered global uncertainty, particularly in the energy sector. US President Donald Trump stated that military operations in Iran are expected to be completed within the next two to three weeks. He has also ordered military leaders to prepare to withdraw troops from the Middle East region. “We will leave very soon,” Trump said, quoted from Reuters on Tuesday (31/3/2026). The previous conflict in the Middle East has disrupted global energy shipments and triggered uncertainty in oil prices, prompting many countries to recalculate their energy resilience. “Iran does not have to make a deal. They do not have to make a deal with me,” he explained. The condition for halting military operations is solely the achievement of the mission objective, namely neutralising Iran’s capability to produce nuclear weapons. After that is ensured, Trump will withdraw from there. “After that (is achieved), then we will leave,” he said. “We have the necessary will to end this conflict, provided that important conditions are met, especially the guarantees needed to prevent a recurrence of aggression,” said Pezeshkian, quoted from Euro News on Tuesday (31/3/2026). What Pezeshkian conveyed came shortly after US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the next few days would be crucial in the Iran war. “The coming days will be decisive. Iran knows that, and there is almost nothing they can do militarily to prevent it,” said Hegseth. It is known that the US is preparing a ground troop assault on Iranian territory, although the Pentagon has not yet provided an official statement regarding the reinforcement.
