U.S. painters to display works
JAKARTA (JP): A number of leading American painters will
display their works in an exhibition, from May 1 through May 6,
at the residence of Robert L. Barry, the United States Ambassador
to Indonesia, at Jl. Taman Suropati No. 3, Menteng, Central
Jakarta.
The exhibition will feature the works of twelve prominent
American painters. They are Josef Albers, Helen Frankenthaler,
Nancy Graves, Al Hed, David Hockney, Jasper Johns, Robert
Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Wallase Ting, Andy
Warhol and Tom Wesselman.
James Rosenquist, one of the exhibiting artists, is currently
in town. He is scheduled to give a lecture and participate in a
discussion at the Jakarta Institute of Arts at Taman Ismail
Marzuki arts center on Thursday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The event will
also feature a number of Indonesian painters and art observers
such as Dede Eri Supria, Hildawati Soemantri and Agus Dermawan T.
The lecture and discussion free of charge and all visitors are
welcome.
The events are jointly organized by the United States Embassy
and the Singapore-based Wetterling Teo Gallery. (raw)
