U.S. painter to hold solo show
JAKARTA (JP): American painter Ting Shao Kuang will hold an
exhibition at the Arta Graha building, Central Jakarta, from
tomorrow to May 18.
According to Agenanda Djatmika, the chief of the organizing
committee, the purpose of the exhibition, which includes 45
landscape paintings of Indonesia, is to raise funds for
scholarships for needy children.
The exhibition is sponsored by Yayasan Binabhakti Mandiri and
P.T. Citraseni Indonesia Bagus. It will be opened by Minister of
Youth and Sport Hayono Isman, Antara reported.
Ting has a keen interest in the beauty of the Orient. He has
also been recognized by the United Nations as a human rights
activist.
The UN announced Ting's painting Light for Human Rights as the
symbol of international unity.
Another of Ting's paintings, Motherhood, was displayed at the
fourth International Congress of Women in Beijing in September
1995. This painting has also become a model for stamps as
recognition for his contribution to women's rights. (24)
