US Military Reimposes Naval Blockade in Strait of Hormuz

Washington (ANTARA) - The US military announced on Tuesday the resumption of a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

“US forces are once again enforcing a naval blockade against vessels transiting to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas as of 4.00 pm Eastern Time today (Wednesday, 3.00 am WIB),” US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement posted on the social media platform X.

“At present, there are more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds of military aircraft operating across the Middle East. American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and on standby,” the statement added.

According to CENTCOM, US forces launched an additional wave of strikes against targets in Iran one hour before reimposing the blockade in the strait.

Earlier on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump said the Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessel traffic except Iran, whilst the naval blockade would continue.

“Therefore, we will impose a FULL Blockade, but only upon Vessels sailing to and from Iranian ports, or carrying Iranian cargo,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
