US Military Conducts Jungle Survival Training in Indonesia

TNI personnel, alongside soldiers from the United States, Japan, and South Korea, are honing their jungle survival skills through Jungle Survival training. This activity is part of the Super Garuda Shield (SGS) 2026 Joint Combined Exercise, which took place in Teluk Pandan, Pesawaran, Lampung, on Wednesday (2/9).

According to a press release from the TNI Public Relations Centre (Puspen TNI), this training is designed to equip soldiers with skills in utilising natural resources, terrain recognition, and basic survival techniques to support long-term operations in forest environments.

In addition to Jungle Survival, joint personnel also underwent sniper training at the same location. This material aims to train the precision, concentration, patience, and self-control of soldiers in high-precision combat situations.

Commander of the TNI, General Agus Subiyanto, stated that SGS 2026 involves broad participation from various countries, including Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, as well as Southeast Asian nations such as Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This exercise serves as an important medium for defence diplomacy and cross-border knowledge exchange.

“This activity is expected to serve as a means of exchanging knowledge across nations to modernise military capabilities and support stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” wrote the TNI Public Relations press release.

The TNI has ensured that the entire series of exercises is proceeding safely with strict adherence to security standard procedures. The full series of the Super Garuda Shield 2026 Joint Exercise is scheduled to officially conclude in Jakarta on 11 September 2026.
