US Media Report: Iran's Retaliatory Attack Destroys CIA Station at U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia

Riyadh — An Iranian drone attack has destroyed the CIA station located at the U.S. Embassy complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Washington Post reported that the strike formed part of Iran’s retaliatory campaign against attacks launched from military bases in Saudi Arabia. Iran used drones to bombard the U.S. Embassy complex in Riyadh on Monday, 2 March 2026.

‘The Iranian drone attack on the CIA Station at the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia would be a symbolic victory for the Islamic Republic as it targets and harms U.S. personnel across the Middle East,’ the Washington Post reported on Wednesday, 4 April 2026, in the early hours.

The Washington Post said that the U.S. government and Saudi authorities confirmed two drones attacked the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh on Monday local time.

However, according to the Washington Post in an official briefing by the U.S., Saudi authorities did not mention that the CIA Station within the U.S. Embassy complex was also destroyed in the attack.

The Washington Post also reported, citing internal State Department briefings, that the attack on the U.S. Embassy building in Riyadh had destroyed part of the roof, causing the building to collapse.
