US Marine Praises Indonesian Marine for Marksmanship at RIMPAC

A member of the Indonesian Marine Corps (TNI AL) received praise from the United States Marine Corps after delivering an outstanding performance during a shooting exercise at Range 1, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, on Wednesday (1/7). The exercise is part of the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) 2026. In an official press release from the Marine Corps, it was explained that the praise was given to Sergeant Agus Supriyanto for successfully hitting the target with 23 out of 30 rounds at the same point. Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, U.S. Marine Corps, Lieutenant Colonel C. A. Elsasser, presented a Challenge Coin to Agus for his marksmanship. The moment was captured on the Instagram account @indo_marines_rimpac_2026. “Indonesian Marines, you are killer!” Elsasser said to Agus while handing over the Challenge Coin. The Commander of the Indonesian Marine Task Unit for RIMPAC 2026, Marine Lieutenant Colonel Huda Prawira Soemarto, stated that this success is the result of diligent training carried out by the Indonesian Marine Corps for RIMPAC 2026. “This achievement is also proof that Indonesian Marine soldiers are able to compete, excel, and gain recognition from the world’s militaries in international training forums,” he explained. Nevertheless, he admitted they would not be complacent. He confirmed that the Indonesian Marine Corps will continue to hone its skills to strengthen the nation’s defence and bring honour to Indonesia on the international stage. RIMPAC is the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercise, held every two years. This year’s exercise runs from 24 June to 31 July 2026, featuring a series of land, sea, and air exercises. Since the start of RIMPAC 2026, the Indonesian Marine Corps, along with contingents from other nations, has participated in various drills, including close-quarters battle simulations and airborne assault operations.
