US Launches All-Out Attack on Iran, Explosions Heard Across Multiple Locations
The United States military has launched strikes against Iran after President Donald Trump vowed to attack the country relentlessly. The strikes are a response to an Iranian attack on US forces in Jordan.
“US forces began launching strikes against Iran at 8 p.m. ET today,” CENTCOM said in a post on X, as reported by CNN on Thursday (30/7/2026). “The strikes are a strong response to Iran’s attempted attack yesterday on US forces based in the Middle East,” it continued.
A US official told CNN that the US launched strikes against military targets. Trump had previously promised to hit Iran very hard. “We’re going to hit them very hard because now it’s our turn to hit them. They know it’s coming,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday.
It is known that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched several ballistic missiles towards US forces on Tuesday night. The Jordanian military said it had intercepted five missiles.
Explosions were heard in several locations in southern Iran following the US strikes, according to Al Jazeera citing Iranian Press TV reports. Another Iranian media outlet, Tasnim, reported three explosions on Qeshm Island, within the city. Local residents said a missile struck a residential area, although information on casualties is not yet available. According to state broadcaster IRIB, explosions were also heard in Bushehr province, the site of Iran’s only nuclear power plant.
