US-Israeli Attack on Vahdat Fardis, Iran: 3 Dead, 33 Wounded

Armed conflict in the Middle East has reignited following joint military strikes by the United States and Israel targeting Vahdat Fardis district, located near Tehran, Iran. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, adds to the growing toll of civilian casualties from military operations that have been ongoing since late February.

This assault represents a continuation of military operations launched by the US and Israel since 28 February 2026. In response, the Iranian military has carried out retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli sovereign territory and several US military facilities in the Middle East region.

Although the United States and Israel initially justified these strikes as aimed at neutralising Iran’s nuclear programme, the stated rationale has since shifted. Both nations have now openly declared their intention to bring about regime change in Tehran.

The most significant turning point in this conflict occurred on the first day of operations when Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was reported killed. Iran is currently observing a 40-day national mourning period, whilst tensions on the ground continue to mount with no ceasefire in sight.

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a strong statement regarding the situation in Iran, describing the killing of Khamenei as an action that flagrantly violates international law. Moscow assesses that the US and Israeli steps could undermine the global security order.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has urged both sides to cease hostilities immediately and pursue de-escalation. According to the Kremlin, regional stability cannot be achieved through military aggression targeting the supreme leadership of a nation.

Iran’s representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has affirmed that Tehran will take all necessary measures to defend its people and territory from US-Israeli attacks.
