US-Israel Strike Reportedly Targets Ayatollah Khamenei's Office in Tehran

TEHRAN — A large-scale military escalation engulfed Iran on the early morning of Saturday, 28 February 2026, following a combined air assault launched by the United States and Israel. The military operation, which targeted various strategic assets of the regime, resulted in thick plumes of smoke rising high into the sky over the capital Tehran.

Israeli media outlet Ynews, citing a security official, stated that the operation was a coordinated strike targeting key government infrastructure. “All parties conducted strikes. The primary target was regime infrastructure,” the official said.

The official added that the timing of the strike at dawn was selected based on operational considerations designed to confound Iran’s defensive forces, following weeks of careful preparation.

Saudi-owned television channel Al Arabiya reported that a series of additional explosions occurred in eastern Tehran, specifically near a base of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Additionally, explosions were reported to have struck Iranian intelligence facilities in the capital. As of this report, Iranian media continued to report extensive strikes across Tehran and the holy city of Qom.
