US–Israel conflict with Iran leaves 3,960 West Java residents in the Middle East waiting for evacuation
Bandung — The West Java provincial government has disclosed that 3,960 West Java residents working as Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) in the Middle East are waiting to be evacuated. They said data collection on West Java PMI in the Middle East is ongoing.
‘Based on data compiled by the West Java Labour Office, there are 3,960 people in the Middle East,’ West Java’s Head of the Department of Communication and Information (Diskominfo), Adi Komar, said on Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
He explained that the province is awaiting evacuation policy to be carried out by the central government. For now, they will continue to compile data and ensure the condition of the PMI.
‘We are collecting data and determining their conditions there,’ he said. He noted that they are in continuous communication with embassies in the Middle East and with the families of PMI in Indonesia.
As is known, Bank Indonesia (BI) said it is monitoring the impacts of the war escalating between Iran and the US-Israel that recently broke out and stunned the world. BI pledged to continue to maintain rupiah exchange rate stability and work in synergy to support economic growth amid global uncertainty.
