US-Israel Attacks Iran, Zulhas: Beyond Reason
Chairman of the National Mandate Party, Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas, has condemned the military attack launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. Zulhas also denounced Israel’s relentless attacks on the people of Gaza, Palestine.
The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs admitted that he found it difficult to sleep while following the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. He said this in front of PAN cadres during the national working meeting today.
“I sometimes have trouble sleeping when I see America-Israel attacking Iran; I can’t sleep. It’s beyond reason. It’s beyond the boundaries we have as humans. I think it’s barbaric, especially now against Palestine in Gaza,” he stated in a speech at the Central Board of PAN’s office in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
According to Zulhas, the developments in the increasingly heated conflict in the Middle East have crossed the bounds of human reason. However, he said there is not much that can be done. “And we can’t do anything, except pray,” he said.
According to Zulhas, the escalation of the conflict is impacting energy crises in various parts of the world, including Asia. He then mentioned that the Philippines has announced that it has entered a state of emergency due to energy shortages.
The Israeli and US airstrikes on Iran’s capital, Tehran, on 28 February 2026, killed Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, and thousands of civilians. The attack triggered retaliation in the form of missiles and drones targeting Israel and several countries in the Middle East region.
