US-Israel Attacks Iran; Prabowo Ready to Mediate with Teheran
Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry (Kemlu RI) has expressed concern over the failure of negotiations between the United States and Iran, which has resulted in military escalation in the Middle East region. The Foreign Ministry stated that Indonesia deeply regrets the situation.
“Indonesia deeply regrets the failure of negotiations between the US and Iran, which has resulted in military escalation in the Middle East region,” said the statement from the Kemlu RI’s X account on Saturday (28/2/2026).
“Indonesia calls on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy,” it continued.
The Foreign Ministry emphasised the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of every nation, as well as the importance of resolving differences through peaceful means.
“The Indonesian Government, specifically the President of the Republic of Indonesia, has conveyed its readiness to facilitate dialogue to restore conducive security conditions, and if approved by both parties, the Indonesian President is willing to depart for Teheran to conduct mediation,” the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry warned that increased tensions in the Middle East could potentially disrupt regional stability and global peace and security. The Foreign Ministry also urged Indonesian nationals (WNI) in Iran to remain calm.
“Indonesian nationals in affected areas are urged to remain calm, alert, follow the instructions of local authorities, and maintain communication with the nearest Indonesian diplomatic mission,” it stated.
In previous reporting, five cities were affected by attacks from Israel and the US. Explosions were heard in the cities of Isfahan, Qom, Karaj, and Kermanshah, as well as in the capital Teheran.
US President Donald Trump announced a military operation against Iran in a video statement. Trump described the US attack as a “massive and sustained” operation to destroy Iranian missiles and the naval forces.
He also stated that the operation was aimed at preventing Iran from threatening the lives of American citizens.
“The United States military is conducting a massive and sustained operation to prevent this very evil radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests,” Trump said in his announcement, as reported by CNN on Saturday (28/2).
“Our goal is to defend the American people by eliminating the real threat from the Iranian regime,” he said.
“We will destroy their missiles and completely level their missile industry to the ground. That industry will be completely–once again–destroyed. We will annihilate their navy,” Trump stressed in a video statement released via his Truth Social media platform on Saturday (28/2) in the early hours of US time.
