Tehran (ANTARA) - The United States and Israel have attacked 30 universities across Iran since the conflict began on 28 February, Iran’s Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Hossein Simaei Sarraf, told RIA Novosti on Monday. “The enemy has openly targeted universities and research facilities. Our laboratories, classrooms, and student dormitories have been attacked. To date, 30 universities nationwide have been struck,” he said. He stated that the US and Israel are acting out of desperation after failing to achieve results in direct confrontations with Iran’s military. On 28 February, the US and Israel launched military aggression by striking several targets in Iran, including the city of Tehran. The aggression caused damage and civilian casualties. Iran retaliated against the aggression by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. The US and Israel initially claimed the aggression was necessary to destroy Iran’s nuclear programme, but this pretext has changed to a desire to change the ruling regime in Iran.
