US-Israel Attack Iran; Golkar Urges UN to Take Concrete Steps to Stop War
The conflict situation in the Middle East has intensified following attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, which resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Indonesia’s Golkar party is urging the United Nations to take concrete steps to stop the war.
“We urge the UN to take swift and concrete action to end this highly destructive war that poses a danger to global order,” said Golkar Party General Secretary Sarmuji to journalists on Monday, 2 March 2026.
The Golkar party also called on the Indonesian government to mobilise international forces to push for an end to the war. It expressed hope that diplomatic channels could be pursued in response to the conflict.
“Golkar emphasises that war is not a solution. Global stability, the safety of civilians, and world order must be the top priority of all nations,” he said.
Sarmuji regretted the attack and its impact on the international community. He stressed that open warfare would only harm ordinary people.
“Golkar regrets and expresses profound disappointment at the failure of negotiations and diplomacy that have resulted in open war. This war clearly harms only ordinary people. We call on both sides to exercise restraint and immediately stop the war,” said Sarmuji.
Golkar also extended condolences over the loss of life in the conflict, including the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and family members. He described the incident as a human tragedy.
“We express our deepest condolences on the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his family, and all other victims. Every life lost is a human tragedy that cannot be justified by any reason,” said the Chair of the Golkar Faction in the Indonesian House of Representatives.
“This war is very complex and multidimensional. Therefore, its resolution cannot be achieved through military force. The only way is to return to the negotiating table and resolve it through a diplomatic approach,” he added.
It is known that the US and Israel attacked Iranian territory on Saturday, 28 February. Khamenei’s residential complex in Tehran was reportedly hit by dozens of bombs.
US President Donald Trump announced Khamenei’s death. Khamenei was killed in the US and Israeli strike on Tehran.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is now dead,” Trump said on his Truth Social media network, according to AFP, on Sunday, 1 March 2026.
