US-Iran framework agreement 95% complete, media reports
We have an agreement on nuclear supplies and the Strait of Hormuz, but are still negotiating the wording.
Washington (ANTARA) – The US-Iran framework agreement is reportedly 95% complete, with both sides still finalising the wording concerning the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear supplies, according to a US media outlet.
Fox News reported on Sunday (24 May) that an unnamed US official confirmed Iran had agreed in principle to the framework agreement.
“We have reached 95% agreement. We have a deal on nuclear supplies and the Strait of Hormuz, but are still negotiating the wording,” an official told the television station.
Previously, US President Donald Trump stated the Iran deal was essentially agreed upon, with final details to be finalised before announcement.
On 28 February, the US and Israel launched attacks on Iranian targets, killing more than 3,000 people.
Washington and Tehran announced a two-week ceasefire on 8 April.
However, subsequent negotiations in Islamabad concluded without concrete outcomes.
Despite no official announcement of renewed hostilities, the US has imposed a blockade on Iranian ports.
