US-Iran Exchange Attacks, Government Prepares Evaluation Steps for Indonesian Citizens and Migrant Workers

Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Mukhtarudin has stated that the government is preparing anticipatory and evacuation measures for Indonesian citizens (WNI) and migrant workers in the Middle East region. This follows the escalating conflict between the United States (US) and Iran. “In principle, the government has coordinated to prepare anticipatory steps if something extraordinary occurs, requiring a large-scale evacuation or major handling of our Indonesian citizens there,” Mukhtarudin told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, 17 July 2026. “This also includes the migrant workers in the Middle East region,” he added. He noted that the government is continuously coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy, and relevant authorities to monitor the situation in Iran. “We are currently coordinating. Coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Because this must involve the authorities of other countries. Everything must follow procedures, in accordance with our diplomatic relations with Iran,” he said. Previously, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir stated that no Indonesian citizens had been reported injured as a result of the US attacks on Iran. “So far, even though attacks from both sides have resumed, thank God there has been no disruption or impact on Indonesian citizens, meaning no injuries or losses,” Nasir told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 16 July 2026. Nasir explained that representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the region report daily on the developments and the current situation of Indonesian nationals. These reports are conveyed directly to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, via a group chat. “Essentially, every day all our representatives in the region coordinate and report on developments, both the situation of Indonesian citizens and the events occurring in their respective areas,” he stated.
