US Intelligence Community Alleges China Has Obtained Data on 220 Million American Voters

WASHINGTON – The United States Intelligence Community revealed on Thursday that China has obtained the data of 220 million American voters through various means, according to a fact sheet obtained by a group of journalists at the White House.

“The People’s Republic of China and parties acting on their behalf have purchased, stolen, or hacked the voter registration data of 220 million Americans. China’s data collection includes data that is not publicly available,” stated the fact sheet, which has been confirmed by the leaders of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the National Security Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security.

The document defines ‘election interference’ as open or covert actions by a foreign government aimed at influencing US elections directly or indirectly.

The document also notes that in 2022, US intelligence agencies identified a Chinese computer network exploitation actor suspected of obtaining voter registration data available on online trading platforms.

“Adversaries can manipulate the data to prevent individual voters or groups of voters from casting their ballots, causing delays in voters arriving on polling day or forcing voters to use provisional ballots,” the intelligence community report stated.
