US Intelligence Assesses Iran Growing Confident and Determined to Continue Conflict
Washington (ANTARA) - Iran is assessed to be growing more confident in its ability to attack US bases in the Middle East and is increasingly determined to continue the conflict with the US for months to come, according to a report by The New York Times on Friday, citing the latest US intelligence data.
According to the report, which cites several US officials, there are currently insufficient indications to suggest that Iran is prepared to reach an agreement with the US by meeting Washington’s demands before the US midterm elections on 3 November.
Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump stated that he does not know when the conflict between the US and Iran will end.
On 28 February, the US and Israel began launching attacks against several targets in Iran. Iran subsequently responded by launching retaliatory strikes.
In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at halting hostilities. However, shortly thereafter, both parties resumed launching attacks against one another.
The conflict remains unresolved, and hostilities continue to occur sporadically.
Meanwhile, Washington has chosen to increase economic pressure on Iran as part of its efforts to end the conflict by imposing additional financial pressure on Tehran.
