US Intelligence Alleges Iran's New Leader Is Gay and Impotent

US intelligence reports have allegedly indicated that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, is likely gay. The information also suggests that his late father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was concerned about his son’s suitability to lead the Islamic Republic of Iran due to his sexual orientation.

US President Donald Trump has been briefed on this matter. According to the New York Post on 17 March 2026, Trump is said to have been unable to contain his surprise, even laughing uncontrollably upon receiving the intelligence report. Others in the room also found the information highly amusing, with one senior intelligence official reportedly unable to stop laughing for days after learning of it.

These shocking claims have been disclosed by two members of the intelligence community and a third person close to the White House. All three sources stated that, whilst the allegations sound implausible, the US intelligence community views the information as credible rather than mere disinformation intended to undermine Mojtaba Khamenei’s position, who was selected to succeed his late father on 8 March.

Two of the sources stated that intelligence indicated Mojtaba Khamenei, nicknamed “the power behind the robe” whilst serving as his father’s gatekeeper, has been engaged in a long-term sexual relationship with his childhood tutor. The third source mentioned that the affair involved someone who previously worked for the Khamenei family.

Mojtaba Khamenei, believed to have been wounded in an airstrike on 28 February that killed his father and other family members, has reportedly made aggressive sexual advances towards the men caring for him. One source suggested this may have occurred whilst he was under the influence of heavy medication during recovery.

The US intelligence agency does not have photographic evidence regarding Khamenei’s alleged attraction to men, but the sources affirmed that the information is extremely strong. One source stated that the information comes from one of the most protected sources the government possesses. “The fact that this has been elevated to the highest of the highest levels demonstrates that there is strong confidence in this information,” said the second source to the New York Post.

The publication also reported that Mojtaba Khamenei’s sexual orientation has actually been the subject of whispers within Iran since at least the helicopter crash in May 2024 that killed President Ebrahim Raisi, who was at that time Ali Khamenei’s preferred candidate to become the next Supreme Leader. Within the US government, this information has been kept as a closely guarded secret by certain parties.

A secret 2008 US diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks previously described that Mojtaba Khamenei underwent treatment in England for erectile dysfunction, although the report did not identify the cause of his condition. State Department files indicate that he married relatively late, around the age of 30, due to erectile dysfunction issues that were eventually resolved through a medical visit to London. “Mojtaba was expected by his family to have children soon, but required a fourth visit to England for medical treatment; after staying for two months, his wife eventually became pregnant,” the leaked file stated.

Allegations regarding his sexual orientation were also mentioned in a CBS News report stating that the late Ali Khamenei favoured another successor partly because of unspecified problems in his son’s personal life. One source explained that his father and others suspected he was gay, and this was something people spread about to try to prevent his rise as Supreme Leader.

Homosexual behaviour is illegal in Iran, and perpetrators can be sentenced to death, with some Iranian citizens caught being gay executed by hanging from construction cranes as a warning to others. However, one source emphasised that there are strong reasons to disclose Khamenei’s sexual identity to the public, despite this being considered unethical in normal circumstances.

“If there was ever a time when it was acceptable to disclose someone’s sexual orientation, it would be when that person is a repressive Islamic theocracy leader who hangs gay people from cranes,” said the source.

As of now, the whereabouts of Mojtaba Khamenei and his recovery status from the 28 February airstrike remain unclear. The White House has chosen not to provide official comment regarding the circulating reports.

Iran has also not commented on this matter. However, amid the current war between Iran and the US-Israel alliance, many narrative wars are occurring and remain unverified, with reports being updated as developments occur.
