US House Speaker: President Trump Needs Greater Protection

Washington (ANTARA) - US House Speaker Mike Johnson stated that US President Donald Trump is the political figure who has been most frequently attacked in US history, thus requiring greater protection.

“He is the political figure who has been most attacked and slandered in history. He is very resilient, but he needs greater protection, and I think there will be a very thorough re-evaluation of how we handle these major events,” Johnson told Fox News on Monday.

Johnson added that House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has announced that Congress will assess the US Secret Service’s response to identify areas where security needs to be enhanced.

Previously, on Saturday night (25/4), sudden gunfire erupted at the Washington Hilton Hotel during the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner event.

All attendees, including Trump and Melania, were evacuated.

Authorities quickly detained the suspect, while a US Secret Service agent was injured.

The shooting suspect is known as Cole Allen, who frequently criticises the US Government for its reluctance to provide aid to Ukraine.
