US House Passes Resolution to End Iran War, Political Pressure on Donald Trump
The United States House of Representatives has officially passed a resolution calling for an end to Washington’s military involvement in the war against Iran. The move places significant new political pressure on President Donald Trump amid a diplomatic stalemate.
The vote, which took place on Thursday (4/6/2026) local time, concluded with 215 votes in favour versus 208 against. Notably, the motion received cross-party support after four Republican members decided to join the Democratic camp.
Although the resolution is symbolic and not legally binding, and must still face the Senate and a potential presidential veto, the result sends a strong signal regarding legislators’ dissatisfaction with the government’s foreign policy. "We are sending a loud and clear message to Donald Trump. It is time to end this unpopular and illegal war of choice against Iran," a Democratic Party official statement stressed.
As domestic pressure mounts, peace efforts between Washington and Tehran are showing signs of stagnation. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that no real progress has been made in the negotiation process, although communication channels remain open.
Araghchi even issued a stern warning regarding Israel’s involvement. "Any attack on Beirut will bring serious consequences and trigger the resumption of full-scale war. Our forces are ready to strike Israel if Beirut is attacked," he said.
On the other hand, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio asserted that the main conditions for peace remain the surrender of enriched uranium reserves and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Trump continues to show public optimism by stating that a deal could be reached soon, even "this weekend".
A senior Iranian military commander stated that the Iranian armed forces are in full readiness to confront any new adventures and miscalculations by the United States.
