US House Members Propose Impeachment of Donald Trump over War Crimes Allegations
Political turmoil in the United States is intensifying after several Democratic House members officially submitted a proposal to impeach President Donald Trump. This step follows a series of foreign and domestic policies by Trump deemed to severely violate the constitution.
According to the draft resolution submitted on Wednesday (8/4), Trump is accused of committing high crimes and misdemeanors. The document specifically charges the president with starting wars, committing murders, and engaging in war crimes and ship hijackings on the high seas.
The impeachment proposers highlight US military involvement in various parts of the world without legislative approval. Trump is considered to have bypassed the authority of the US Congress, which is constitutionally required to declare war.
“Trump, unconstitutionally, has waged war either as a belligerent or as a supporter against Iran, Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Nigeria, and Gaza,” states the resolution document as quoted from Sputnik.
In addition to ongoing conflicts, US House members spotlight the military threats issued by Trump against other countries, including Panama, Colombia, Cuba, and Greenland. These aggressive actions are assessed as damaging the international legal order and endangering global stability.
Not only related to foreign policy, this impeachment resolution also includes serious domestic allegations. Trump is accused of militarising domestic law enforcement and allowing unconstitutional mass arrests and deportations.
Furthermore, Democratic Party members accuse Trump of retaliatory actions against groups or opinions protected by the constitution. He is also seen as sabotaging the rule of law for his personal political interests.
