U.S. helps train RI police

JAKARTA: United States Ambassador to Indonesia B. Lynn Pascoe presented a VCD training project worth US$700,000 to the National Police on Tuesday.

The U.S. Justice Department International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program in Indonesia and the National Police designed the training project utilizing VCDs. The VCDs were developed to train police officers in 48 job related topics, including democratic policing, human rights, interviews and interrogation, human trafficking and best service practices.

The project will deliver 2,900 VCD training kits containing VCDs and guidebooks for each of the 48 programs, and will be distributed to regional police headquarters across the country, the U.S. Embassy said in a press statement. -- JP
