US Has No Interest in Conflicting with Iran for More Than Three Months
Moscow (ANTARA) - George Papadopoulos, a foreign policy advisor for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, stated that the Trump administration has no interest in prolonging a conflict with Iran for more than three months. “It is not in America’s interest if this war lasts more than three months, and that is why I believe three months will ultimately be the maximum limit that the US will use to engage in this war,” Papadopoulos said in an interview. He emphasised that extending the conflict for a longer period would not benefit America, Europe, or Israel, including due to its potential impact on the domestic political situation in America ahead of the midterm elections. The US midterm elections will take place on 3 November 2026, involving the re-election of the entire House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate. On 28 February, the United States and Israel launched attacks on targets in Iran, causing damage and civilian casualties. Iran retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East as a form of self-defence. The US and Israel initially claimed their attacks were necessary to counter threats perceived from Iran’s nuclear programme. However, they soon clarified that the strikes were carried out because they wanted to see a change of power in Iran.
