Moscow (ANTARA) - The United States has halted a series of attacks on Iran so as not to disrupt direct diplomatic negotiations between Tehran and Oman, according to a report by the CBS television network, citing several regional officials who declined to be named.

Previously, on 24 and 25 July, several rounds of dialogue between Iran and Oman were held in Tehran at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

At the meeting, both parties discussed general principles and practical mechanisms for regulating safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry added that progress had been achieved in the dialogue relating to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, although the situation in the maritime route remained unchanged.

Citing several sources, Axios reported on Saturday (25 July) that the US military continued to prepare contingency plans to resume large-scale military action against Iran, even though President Donald Trump had not yet issued such an order.

According to the source, Trump ordered a halt to further attacks on Friday (24 July), ending the attacks that had lasted 13 consecutive days.
