A United States citizen, initialled AJP, was deported from Bali on Thursday (23/4/2026). AJP is a fugitive in a murder case in southern California, USA.

AJP was previously arrested at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung, Bali, on Saturday (17/1/2026). Two days later, the man was handed over to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas) for strict supervision and placement in a detention room.

During the process, Immigration coordinated with the US government to ensure the completeness of repatriation administration. AJP was finally officially deported under the escort of US Marshals after being handed over to the US Embassy.

The Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement of Kemenimipas, Yuldi Yusman, emphasised that the deportation sanction is part of intensive supervision of high-risk foreigners. This serves as evidence of the effectiveness of the selective policy, which only allows foreigners who do not endanger security and public order to enter Indonesia.

“This also demonstrates the importance of cross-country collaboration in law enforcement,” stressed Hendarsam in his statement on Friday (24/4/2026).

Immigration assures that it will continue to strengthen supervision and international cooperation to maintain national sovereignty and security.

The Director General of Immigration of Kemenimipas, Hendarsam Marantoko, said AJP was previously detected while passing through the Immigration autogate after arriving from Taipei, Taiwan. The system is integrated with the Interpol database 24/7, thus immediately identifying his status as an international fugitive.

“As soon as he passed through the autogate, the individual was immediately detected and secured by officers,” said Marantoko.
