US Forces Launch Fresh Strikes on Iranian Military Targets

Washington (ANTARA) — The United States armed forces launched a fresh attack on Iranian military targets on Wednesday (22 July) local time, according to US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The latest air strikes began at 5.30 pm Eastern Time on Wednesday, or 4.30 am WIB on Thursday (23 July), as announced by CENTCOM on the X platform.

“This mission will continue in order to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the waters of the region,” the US command said.

Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy a bridge or power plant in Iran every time the country fired on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

“From this point forward, every time the Islamic Republic of Iran fires on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, whether by Missile, Rocket, Drone, or any other device or weapon, the United States will bomb and destroy ONE BRIDGE OR POWER PLANT, including ones located near, or in, the Capital City of Tehran,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform.

In response, the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, Iran’s principal military command, warned on Wednesday that if the US attacked Iranian infrastructure, Iran would block all oil exports from Western Asia and target oil, gas, electricity, and economic infrastructure across the Middle East, according to several media reports.

The Iranian military headquarters added that the continuing threats issued by the United States would only widen the war in the region and even beyond it.

Some 68 per cent of American adults consider the war with Iran “not worth fighting”, while 28 per cent hold the opposite view, according to a Washington Post-Ipsos poll released last week.
