US F-16 Jet 'Flees' After Being Struck by Iranian Air Defence Missile

The air assault by a fleet of United States fighter jets reportedly suffered a blow from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air defence unit. The semi-official Tasnim news agency reported that the IRGC successfully forced a US F-16 fighter jet that attempted an intrusion to withdraw from their airspace. “After the enemy F-16 fighter jet violated the Persian Gulf airspace, the IRGC air defence system immediately launched a missile towards it. The aggressor fighter jet then promptly fled the scene,” stated an official release issued by the IRGC public relations office on Thursday morning. The incident occurred shortly after the US military announced the commencement of a new wave of aggression against Iranian territory. According to a report by the Tasnim news agency, in the latest wave of attacks launched by the US military against Iran, a number of points in the country’s southern coastal region were targets of the American fighter jets’ air strikes. The conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran is expected to continue until October 2027. Binus University international relations expert Dinna Prapto Raharja explained that this conflict is expanding in the Middle East, with Israeli attacks on Lebanon. “In my view, looking at Israel’s power map, the war will last until October… until the next Israeli election,” said Dinna. According to her, Israel will continue launching military attacks against the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which is an ally of Iran in pressuring Tel Aviv and Washington’s interests. “Israel wants to raze Beirut to the ground as a symbol of Lebanon’s fall,” said Dinna.
