US Estimates Additional Losses After Four Soldiers Killed in Iran Operation
The brutal and fatal joint Israel-US military operation against Iran on Saturday, 28 February has shocked the world.
US Air Force Chief of Staff General CQ Brown stated that the joint US-Israel operation in Iran is not a “one-night mission” and predicted additional losses for the American side. This statement was delivered at a Pentagon press conference on Tuesday.
“We will endeavour to minimise US losses, but as the Secretary General stated, this is a major combat operation,” Brown said.
Four US military personnel were reported killed in the operation. In response to the situation, US Defence Secretary Hegseth affirmed that the strike against Iran was precisely targeted and devastating, though the operation would not transform into endless war.
Hegseth also acknowledged that the operation would indeed involve casualties and urged Iranian citizens to capitalise on what he described as an “extraordinary opportunity” – a message attributed to President Donald Trump, who emphasised that “now is your time.”
Hegseth further warned Iran’s security forces to carefully consider their next steps, whilst underscoring that Washington remains committed to a measured military strategy.
US Air Force Chief of Staff General Brown stated that the joint US-Israel operation in Iran aimed to protect itself and regional partners whilst preventing Iran’s power projection.
