U.S. envoy to meet cleric Gymnastiar
JAKARTA: U.S. Ambassador to Indonesia Ralph L. Boyce will visit Bandung on Nov. 25 and Nov. 26, as part of his ongoing series of visits to important centers outside of Jakarta, according to a U.S. Embassy statement, released on Thursday.
During his visit, Ambassador Boyce and his party will visit the Darut Tauhid pesantren (Islamic boarding school) to meet with Muslim cleric Abdullah Gymnastiar. The ambassador will also attend a breaking of the fast meeting at the Police Officers School (SESPIM), at which Gymnastiar will speak.
The ambassador will also call on the West Java governor, visit the Bandung Institute of Technology to meet its rector and senior staff as well as to see a joint USAID-ITB project on emergency preparedness and to visit the Salman Mosque at the institute.
On Tuesday, Ambassador Boyce will visit Padjadjaran University to meet the rector and speak to students and staff. --JP
