US Dollar Surges Past IDR 17,000 Mark

The Indonesian rupiah came under pressure against the US dollar today. The dollar strengthened to levels around IDR 17,000 this morning.

According to detikFinance on Monday, 9 March 2026, Bloomberg data indicates the US dollar moved higher by 0.50% at the IDR 17,009 level. For context, the rupiah had previously weakened by 20 points to IDR 16,925 last Friday (6 March).

The US dollar’s movement was not limited to the rupiah. Against the euro, the US dollar weakened by 0.90%. Additionally, the dollar also weakened by 0.89% against sterling.

The US dollar also weakened by 0.10% against the Canadian dollar.

The US dollar was also recorded as strengthening against the Japanese yen by 0.60% and also strengthening by 0.79% against the Swiss franc.
