US Dollar Rages, Breaching IDR 18,000 — Here Is the Palace's Response

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi has spoken out regarding the weakening of the Rupiah against the United States Dollar. He requested that relevant economic officials continue to coordinate in order to monitor the situation.

‘With regard to the Rupiah issue, we in the government, in this case the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and also the Financial Services Authority (OJK), continue to coordinate intensively to constantly monitor and then take steps,’ said Prasetyo Hadi at the Presidential Palace Complex on Thursday (4/6/2026).

He emphasised that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain strong.

‘But what is certain is that we can convey that we must be confident that our economic fundamentals, which are reflected in economic growth and inflation that remains under control, God willing, are actually quite strong,’ he said.

It is noted that the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar continues. It has now breached IDR 18,000 per US dollar. In today’s trading, Thursday (4/6/2026), Refinitiv data showed that as of 11:30 WIB, the rupiah had weakened by 0.56% to a level of IDR 18,040/US$.

This depreciation has deepened compared to its previous position. As of 09:11 WIB, the rupiah had already breached the psychological level of IDR 18,000/US, tradingatIDR18, 015/US or depreciating by 0.42%.
