US Deputy Secretary of Defence Colby Meets Prabowo at the Palace

President Prabowo Subianto received the United States Deputy Secretary of War for Policy, Elbridge Colby, along with his delegation at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

During the meeting, President Prabowo and Deputy Secretary Colby discussed strengthening the relationship and partnership between Indonesia and the United States.

Following the meeting, Colby expressed his honour at being able to meet directly with Prabowo. The meeting, which took place in a warm and constructive atmosphere, was part of efforts to continue strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

“Meeting with President Prabowo was an extraordinary honour to be able to meet with the President and his team,” said Colby in his statement.

Colby affirmed that the US government is optimistic about strengthening relations with Indonesia. According to him, this strengthening of relations is based on the principle of mutual respect and enhanced cooperation between the two countries.

“In my view, the US government is very optimistic about advancing our relationship with Indonesia, which is based on the principle of a mutually respectful partnership as well as deeper enhanced cooperation,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Colby expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to visit Indonesia. In addition, Colby also conveyed his hope that relations between Indonesia and the US would grow even closer.

“We feel honoured to be here and hope to continue the rapidly developing relationship with Indonesia,” he concluded.
