US Deploys B-2 Bombers to Strike Iranian Ballistic Missile Bunkers
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that a number of B-2 bomber aircraft have been deployed to drop dozens of 2,000-pound penetrator bombs on Iran. The targets are buried Iranian ballistic missile launchers located in underground facilities in Iran.
Reported by Anadolu Agency on Friday (6 March 2026), CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper said his forces had struck hundreds of targets across Iran over the past 72 hours. Targets included areas around the capital Tehran.
‘In the last 72 hours alone, American bomber forces have struck nearly 200 targets deep inside Iran, including around Tehran,’ Cooper said at a press conference at CENTCOM’s headquarters in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday (5 March) local time, as quoted by detikNews.
‘And just in the last hour, a number of U.S. B-2 bombers dropped dozens of 2,000-pound penetrator bombs targeting buried ballistic missile launchers.’ Cooper said.
Cooper also stated that the U.S. military has attacked ‘Iran’s Space Command’, which diminishes their ability to threaten America. However, no further details were provided about the facilities related to Iran’s Space Command that were hit.
Cooper also noted that U.S. military operations against Iran’s Navy had increased. He claimed more than 30 Iranian warships have been sunk by the U.S. military, and a drone carrier unit belonging to Iran caught fire as a result of U.S. forces’ strikes.
He added that Iran’s retaliatory attacks have decreased significantly since the broad U.S.-Israel strikes on Saturday (28 February) local time.
‘Despite this, compared to the start, ballistic missile attacks have declined by 90 percent since day one. Drone attacks have fallen by 83 percent since day one. Nevertheless, we remain vigilant,’ Cooper said in his remarks.
It is understood that in recent days U.S. and Israeli forces have attacked targets across various regions of Iran, including missiles, the navy, and military command and control locations. The string of attacks has killed several senior figures and high-ranking Tehran officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with missiles and drones aimed at Israel and U.S. bases in Gulf states. At least six U.S. soldiers were killed in drone attacks by Iran on their bases in Kuwait.
