Moscow (ANTARA) - The Democratic Party in the US Congress is considering suing President Donald Trump if he continues the war with Iran after 1 May without legislative approval. According to Time on Tuesday (28/4), the 60-day deadline for Trump to obtain Congress’s approval for military operations against Iran will fall on 1 May. After that deadline, legally he must obtain legislative approval or request an additional 30 days to withdraw troops. The Democrats have not yet made a final decision regarding the lawsuit and are still attempting various legislative steps. Senator Adam Schiff plans to hold a revote on the resolution limiting the president’s authority in war at the end of this week. Following the US and Israeli attacks on Iran, dozens of Democratic Party members have strongly criticised the Trump administration’s policies, deeming them risky for triggering escalation and violating constitutional procedures. However, the US Senate has repeatedly rejected resolutions aimed at limiting the president’s authority in military operations against Iran.
