Moscow (ANTARA) - A plane carrying a United States delegation to participate in talks with Iran has landed in Islamabad, according to a Reuters report on Saturday, citing Pakistani sources. The talks between the United States and Iran are expected to take place in Islamabad, with Pakistan acting as mediator, as Pakistan hopes to achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. The CNN news network reported that the talks are expected to be held directly and through intermediaries. Meanwhile, two special envoys of US President Donald Trump, namely Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, have arrived in Islamabad, the news agency reported, citing a source. During the visit to Pakistan, US Vice President J.D. Vance will lead his country’s delegation, which also includes Witkoff and Kushner. In addition, it was reported that the American negotiators will be accompanied by experts from the US National Security Council, the US State Department, and the Pentagon. Previously reported on Wednesday (8/4), Donald Trump announced a US agreement with Iran on a two-week ceasefire. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi then announced the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, which contributes about 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, petroleum products, and natural gas LNG.
